Issues with sweep for a linear 10kB pot Expression Pedal

Here is a video of the issue. I’m sure its user error. I have a 10k linear pot in my expression pedal and this is what I’m seeing. What would be your next troubleshooting step? https://youtu.be/UepXW5CClhk

Quick note I just measured the pot at half way up and it measures 4.8k on each side of the wiper so it is definitely a linear pot.

Hi,
I assume you’ve calibrated the mc’s expression input (correct type and sensitivity)? If not that’s probably the issue.
If you did, does the mc show the same behavior while calibrating?
If so, I assume you are using a trs cable?
Check the cable and make sure it is fitting correctly into the socket.

I have it as a voltage divider with a trs cable. Yes it did show the same behavior while calibrating. I will verify my cable fit. Thanks for the reply!

It all looks right to me… I have the ring of the TRS cable on the wiper. I verified that I’m getting the sweep I would expect just from a resistance standpoint. One question I have is I am assuming that at halfway on my pot that I should see 50% on the screen due to the resistance being at 50% of the pots value. Is that accurate?

That’s accurate.
I’d try to recalibrate first.
What expression pedal are you using?

Probably the cause.
I’d solder a cable and swap tip and ring on one end.

From the manual:

The potentiometer wiper should be connected to the Tip of the stereo cable, while the Ring and Sleeve should be connected to the outer lugs on the potentiometer.

Sweet I will do that… thanks for reading the manual for me! I must have missed that.

That fixed it! Thanks Guitar Wolf!
