Iridium Volume Vs. Level

Can anyone help me understand the difference between CC#12 “Level” and CC#7 “Volume Pedal” for the Iridium?

Aside from just wanting to better control the overall volume of different presets on the Iridium, I wanted to be able to use it as a “boost” and a master “tremolo.”

I have a bank that is for toggling on and off my OD/Dist pedals routed through the ML5. In that bank I also would like to setup a toggle CC to tell the Iridium to go from 65/127 to 85/127 on either the Level or Volume Pedal (whichever works in this application)…essentially acting as a boost.
It would also be cool to use some waveform generators to setup a master tremolo of sorts.
I have the Iridium in one of the Omniports…I don’t have any type of volume or expression pedal affiliated with the Iridium.

Any thoughts on the difference between the 2 CCs or how I can achieve this?
Thanks!

Hi there - joining the thread because I’m also interested in using the waveform generator to act like a tremolo (preferably stereo/panning/harmonic) by controlling the Iridum volume.

I saw this thread where the poster managed to do this with their Walrus ACS1:

Sorry I don’t know the difference between the CC#12 ‘Level’ and CC#7 ‘Volume Pedal’.

Cheers!

All good, glad to have more eyes on it!

I don’t have one, but based on a quick look at the manual the CC7 “Volume pedal” emulates what a normal volume pedal would do when placed in the signal path between the guitar and the amp input. CC12 controls the Level knob of the amp sim.

About the best guess I can make regarding your “boost” question is that changing CC7 should be roughly the equivalent of turning the volume knob on your guitar. CC12 should be like turning the volume knob on the amp.

@Vindes Sounds like you are correct. I just heard back from Strymon.
“CC#12 controls the LEVEL knob of the pedal. This is at the end of the signal chain in Iridium. CC#7 emulates using a volume pedal at the EXP jack, which can be set pre or post. I would say that using CC#12 as a strict level boost would work best for what you want. The volume is set to pre by default. You can change it via MIDI CC though.”
