The utrack24 device sends a midi cc message.
I would like this message to enter MC6 Pro and immediately program MC6 Pro to immediately send midi clock at a specific tempo (not tap tempo)
Please explain it to me step by step because I am a new user and I don’t understand everything.
Hi. Yes, that is possible.
Step 1: Program a preset on the MC6 PRO to send MIDI Clock at your desired BPM when triggered. We explain how to do this in this video.
Step 2: Connect the MIDI Out of your utrack24 to the MIDI In of the MC6 PRO. The MC6 PRO responds to incoming MIDI messages as laid out in the manual here.
If the utrack24 can send the correct CC messages to engage your MIDI Clock preset, you’re good to go. If not, you can use the MIDI message convertor on the MC6 PRO to convert the incoming MIDI message at input to the correct/needed MIDI message, which the MC6 PRO will respond accordingly to.
Thank you Brandon,
Well, it’s good that you wrote about this incoming message from utrack24. Unfortunately, it does not send midi clock, but sends the midi cc message correctly. Would it be possible to convert this cc message to clock as input? If so, please explain to me how to do it?
what message should I set in utrack24 so that MC6 pro knows that it should set, for example, a tempo of 154 at the input?
Yes, I understand that the utrack24 is not sending MIDI clock. It sends CC messages. Can you tell me what CC messages it sends out? You just need the incoming CC message to the MC6 PRO to be correct, so you can trigger a MIDI Clock preset on the MC6 PRO.
Hi,
I can create any midi cc for utrack 24, I open Reaper (because it is the only way to create a midi file that reads utrack24)
I will describe to you what I would like it to look like.
I select a sound bank in MC6pro and after some time my drummer turns on play in utrack24 at the same time as he presses play, I receive a midi cc message to my mc6pro which starts midi clock.
This is what I would like it to look like.
will you help?
Sure, that sounds doable. Just let me know what MIDI message your utrack sends out first, and I will be able to guide you.
so my device sends a midi cc#5 message, now I want to receive these midi cc#5 in my mc6pro and convert them into midi clock, e.g. at a tempo of 98 and send this tempo to moog sub37
Thanks for the info. What you need to do is:
- Convert the incoming CC#5 message to CC#10 Value 1 (this engages Preset A on the MC6 PRO) using the MIDI Message Convertor as shown below. In this example, it is assumed that utrack is sending messages out via MIDI channel 1 and MC6 PRO is set to channel 1 as well.
- Program Preset A to send your desired MIDI Clock tempo as shown below:
Now when the MC6 PRO receives CC#5, it will engage Preset A of whichever bank you are in. So be sure that you are in the correct bank for this to work.
I solved it as follows. I entered the following parameters in the midi file:
CC#5 value 0, and CC#6 value 104
these parameters correspond to bpm = 104
I uploaded this file to the utrack editor and pressed play. mc6pro started showing the pace he’s getting.
to make this tempo reach the moog sub37, I added the command in the morningstar editor “Real time” —> “Midi real time - Start”
after this saved message moog received the pace.
I entered the stop midi clock command in “On Exit bank” and the matter was generally resolved.
