I’ve tried everything I can find on forums and manuals and I my MC6 mk2 wont seem to connect. I get the message “Connection failed. No response from device. Please try refreshing the Editor.”
Hi. Are you on Windows or Mac? Is your MC6 MKII updated to the latest firmware and are you also accessing this Editor via this URL?
I am using windows and yes that is the editor ive been using. I also will say that this is a recent issue, the editor has worked for me many times in the past.
Usually a browser restart should resolve the issue, if not, a computer restart. Can you try that and let me know how it works for you?
I’ve tried both restarting the browser and my computer, no luck
Can you let me know what firmware version your controller is running? It is shown during startup.
If you go into device manager, can you find the controller in the list? Try uninstalling it, then removing and reconnecting the USB cable to reinstall.
Its running 3.12.6. It shows up in device manager, uninstalling it didn’t help either
Ok let’s troubleshoot this further.
Can you go to www.midimonitor.com and then click on “devices” and share with me a screenshot so I can see what other connected MIDI devices are there? If there are, you can try disconnecting them and see if it resolves the issue.
Example:
Also, in Windows, only one software can connect to a MIDI device at any one time. If you have, for example, Ableton already connected to the MC6, then the editor will not be able to use that port.
To further troubleshoot, can you try using the Serial Port to connect and see if that works? There will be a pop-up allowing you to select the device to connect to:
Did you manage to try the Serial connection option and see if it works?
When I click on the connect button, nothing pops up. Is there anything special that I have to do in preparation to connect with serial?
Did a browser pop up ever show up asking permission to exchange midi data?
That’s all I can think of.
Yes, I press allow on it whenever it comes up, and I’ve reset that a few times too to see if that would help
Stupid question: I guess you’re using Chrome browser?
Try clearing cache and cookies for the editor URL?
Check Chrome is running the latest version?
I emailed the morningstar help email and there James told me to try the desktop editor, Releases · Morningstar-Engineering/Desktop-Editor-MKII · GitHub, and it worked perfectly!
Thanks for the update. It’s odd that Chrome does not work though. Maybe just check that it is updated to the latest version.
