How to configurate the best?

Hello everyone.
Since I have the mc6 pro I can’t decide how to configure it so that it works best according to my personal needs.

Until now I have done several Banks.

Bank 1 = clean and overdrives from my boss OD200
Bank 2 = Modulation of my Walrus M1.

I had configured the F button in these 2 Banks in such a way that with a double tap in Bank 1 with the F button access Bank 2. The same thing in Bank 2 to access Bank 1 with a double tap on F.

I realize this is not optimal. I would like to configure as follow
BANK 1: menu
A= CLEAN (BANK 2)
B=OD 1 (BANK 3)
C=OD 2 (BANK 4)
D=OD 3 (BANK 5)
E=OD 4 (BANK 6)
F= Menu (Bank 1, to other Banks)

The button of this bank 1 will redirect me to another bank (2,3,4,5,6,) with the obligatory activation of preset A of this Bank.
(e.g. Bank 5 preset A= OD3)

BANK 2:
A= CLEAN
B= CHORUS
C= PHASER
D=TREMOLO
E= ROTARY
F= Bank 1(menu)

Bank 3 will be identical

A" will be overdrive 1 in Bank 2
A" will be overdrive 2 in Bank 3
A" will be overdrive 3 in Bank 4
A" will be overdrive 1 in Bank 5 etc… etc… I think this will allow me to use more effects when I have selected an overdrive… Since more effects will be selectable without changing Bank. Could my idea work? How can I ensure that preset A is activated each time the bank changes? Thank you.

Hey buddy,
Ya, the most intimidating part of setting up a MIDI FC and switcher is “where the hell do I start?!”. I’m old…my first MIDI FC/Loop Controller was a Rolls MIDI Wizard and Patchmate that I bought in the mid-90’s at a Music-Go-Round. Adding a matrix router (MC10x) makes it even more daunting.

What I did is:

  1. have my Morningstar FC connected to my computer
  2. one-by-one, bring every MIDI-controlled pedal on my board, over to my computer AND create a dedicated BANK for it, with the basic controls: ei Program UP/Program Down-via the counter, TAP TEMPO (if its time based), an EXPRESSION PEDAL engage for any CC addressable parameters. You can COPY/PASTE these presets into a specific “song-related patch” later.

They are there to remind you of the basic functionality you have with each pedal. I saved these device specific BANKS towards the end of the list (I started with BANK 20).

THEN, I set up my ML5 and ML10X (I use the ML5 for my
“before amp/mono effects” and my ML10X for my stereo multi-FX). These guys also have a dedicated BANK with some basic options, like “Preset UP/DOWN”, direct access to loops via CC and some default routing configs. This way, you have enough info in your FC (foot controller) to perform basic navigation of all your stuff and you can experiment with combinations.

Once you find a couple cool combo’s you like, you can COPY/PASTE those device specific messages, into a new preset, on a BANK that’s not super far away.

Does that make sense for your use? Sorry if this comes across as a ramble. Makes perfect sense in my head.

The MC6 Pro has counters, that give me access to over 60 presets on the HX Stomp using just 6 buttons on one MC6 page!

How did I program it?

The first press of buttons A-F activates the preset with the current counter value, e.g., A=10, B=22, C=30, etc. If I keep pressing A, the action A=A+1 is triggered and the preset is activated; if I hold the button, the action A=A-1 is triggered.

Additionally, the currently selected button A-F is always illuminated.

Thanks to this, I always have 6 presets at my feet and can change the arrangement of these presets on the fly.

A cycles through 5x Clean
B cycles through 6x Distorted
C 10x pitch shifters
D 10x ambient
E 10x ambient special FX
F 10x synth

I use this for jamming on a looper by myself, playing bass, so I have instant access to various sounds.
