How to Change Amp Channels with the relay Ports of the MC6 Pro

I have a question regarding the MC6 Pro relay Ports. I have a Friedman BE100 Deluxe that I would like to setup up amp channel switching to change channels in my presets. IT is three Channels Clean, Rhythm, and Lead. The foot switch for the amp is a two button latching switch that uses TRS. The Switch Configuration works like this…
Button one engaged: Clean Channel
Button one disengaged: Rhythm Channel
Button two Engaged: Lead Channel

I don’t know what the switches do regarding the tip to Ground, Ring to Ground or Both. I would really like to know the following:

What Cable(s) do I need to plug in the TRS cable from my amp to the MC6 Pro? Since it has 2 buttons do I need to use both relays and if so do I buy a cable with two male 3.5 TRS to 1/4" TRS? How do I configure the relay in the editor to send the right commands?

Thanks in advance for your help!!!

You should need one 3.5mm TRS to 1/4” TRS cable, and then it should just be setting the switch actions as per Omniport Relay Interface Manual

I’d guess a “Toggle” action on Tip would switch between Clean and Rhythm and a Toggle action on Ring would switch Lead on/off. Because the amp uses a two button foot switch my guess is one of the three channels is “always on” and the switch just switches the other sounds on/off

So one really will do the controls for both switches?

I think so yes, because the “native” f/s only has two buttons. So logically it can’t be using tip + ring + tip/ring, it’s likely only using Tip and Ring, and one of the sounds is “active, because neither of the other two are active”

Also: IMHO Friedman are in the top 3 percentile of all amps ever made. Excellent choice.

Thanks. This is really the only missing piece of the puzzle for what o think is an incredible tool. Especially when partnered with the ml10x. I agree with regarding freidman. I have a tiny 59 and the be 100 DLX. without the best amps I have ever played. I bought a quad cortex to go down that rabbit hole. It’s awesome but once I turn on the tubes not so much. Now I just use it for quick gigs.

On a side note do you know what I need to do to configure this relay. How should I set the press and such?

I guess something like:

Preset a, toggle mode on.
Msg1 omniport message. Action = Press, position = 1, tip action = toggle, ring action = do nothing.
Msg2 omniport message. Action = Press, position = 2, tip action = toggle, ring action = do nothing.
This is either going to toggle your clean / rhythm sound OR your lead sound, depending on how the amp is wired. You’ll need to set you Short Name and Toggle Name however makes sense.

Preset b, toggle mode on.
Msg1 omniport message. Action = Press, position = 1, tip action = do nothing, ring action = toggle.
Msg2 omniport message. Action = Press, position = 2, tip action = do nothing, ring action = toggle.
This is either going to toggle your clean / rhythm sound OR your lead sound, depending on how the amp is wired. You’ll need to set you Short Name and Toggle Name however makes sense.

TBH it’s worth getting a cable on Prime and sending it back if it’s a bust, they’re cheap eg https://amzn.eu/d/cfAWXrw

Just ordered a similar cable here in the states. I appreciate the help. I’ll let you know how it goes.

Excellent! Glad it worked…

I figured how to do amp switching internally but I want to do it with an aux switch so the aux switch will free up the screen real estate
