Help with mc6mkii and Wampler Terraform-Midi newbie, sorry!

Okay all-

First hello! This controller seems cool. I’m a pro/semi-pro guitarist and have been for decades but have avoided Midi entirely. But my needs changed, so…here I am-

I am trying to control a Wampler Terraform and program the presets to corresponding buttons on the MC6mkii. I have been able to use the editor to name, and get preset one from the Wampler via PC message 1 to activate; of course, now I can’t turn it off at the Mc6. I understand it’s a CC message that I would send on message 2 and 3? and that toggle activated, 1 and 2 correspondingly with 127 being ‘on’ and o being ‘off’. However, I don’t know what number is assigned for this function on the Wampler, and the manual does not indicate anything. Anyone help?

Thanks so much in advance!

Chris Meck

I just checked out the Terraform manual - seems like there isnt a MIDI CC implementation on the device. They do have a way to program a PC message to bypass the pedal though:

So you’ll need to save that PC message as a bypass in the Terraform, and then whenever you send that PC message, it’ll bypass.

ok. That’s a really weird way of wording things; it’s pretty confusing. Thanks for the help, I’ll try it.

So weird. I can get it to turn off; but now the midi controller will not turn it on! Great. I’m trying to contact Wampler. What a mess.

If you do figure out a solution for this, do let us know. Thanks!

I think sending another PC number that is mapped to a preset might just turn it on?

Ok-so just an update. I figured it out with some help here and another forum.

Terraform is kind of a different protocol. it’s easiest to just get all of your presets saved on the pedal in the spots you want them first (1-8).
In the Morningstar editor, set up your PC messages according to your preset slots (so, PC#1 will go to preset slot #1 in the Terraform). set the toggle on, and a second PC message numbered beyond any of your preset numbers. i used #9 for the first preset, and so on. This is your ‘off’ toggle.
you save your preset on the pedal itself, and push your desired location. The button will blink. AT THIS POINT, hit your chosen controller button. Push the preset button several times until all preset led’s are lit up at the same time, blinking (all 4). Now press preset again, and it’s saved.

working through this now.
I am dense at times please correct me if I am wrong.

  1. PC1-8 are presets on the terraform.
Are there actually more than 8 preset spots?

  2. I get lost here:
"i used #9 for the first preset, and so on. This is your ‘off’ toggle.
you save your preset on the pedal itself, and push your desired location. The button will blink. AT THIS POINT, hit your chosen controller button. Push the preset button several times until all preset led’s are lit up at the same time, blinking (all 4). Now press preset again, and it’s saved."

When you say you used #9 for the first preset do you mean a sound preset or off preset?
Also “on the pedal” are you referring to the terraform or the mc6?’

I like the terraform but the midi implementation is not well explained by wampler and seems a little clunky

Maybe if I can figure it out I will just make a youtube video for future

It’s your off message.

So PC#1 turns your preset on, PC#9 turns it off. make sure you have ‘toggle’ enabled in the Morningstar editor. I suppose you could just use PC#9 for all of your off messages? I just went up a number each time, as in PC#2 on, PC#10 off, etc.

Brian Wampler mentions somewhere that you can save CC messages to a controller giving you hundreds of ‘presets’ utilizing 8 sounds but variations thereof but I have no idea how that is done. anyway, for me, it’s usually fine with the tap tempo on the Terraform.
