Hi guys,
I run my ML10 in 4cm.
I just rebuilt my whole pedalboard using Evidence Audio SIS cables, all checked with a cable tester before assembling and connecting them with my pedals .
In one loop I run the MXR Phase 95.
When I put this loop it in front of the amp I get high frequency feedback, modulated by the phaser.
When I use it in the fx loop of the amp (HOOK Wizard) this feedback noises are gone.
BTW the same feedback problem occured when I tried a distortion pedal , well ALL distortion pedals I tried, actually. I could not use the whole range of available distortion when setting the loop of the ML 10 in front of the amp.
Any ideas - beside the idea using the MXR phaser in the amp loop?
It occurs at any volume!
That’s what I also thought of first. But since it occurs also with different cables, different loops, with different speaker cabinets and in different volumes?
I sorted a lot of stuff out, first!
The first time this problem occurred was when I put a distortion pedal in a loop and programmed it to be run before the amp. I dialed in a tone I liked and encreasesed the amount of distortion but then this shrill feedback cam up and went after decreasing the gain again. The amp was clean!
I don’t see what that setting would cause any issues. Can you draw out the signal chain on how everything is connected when the problem occurs, and when that preset 3 95 EP is used?
How is the MXR being connected in front? Are the tips still being used or do the connections change?
the order run in the screen shot suggests one or other effect running in the fx loop.
Is there a possibility the input Tip and Output Ring are being linked (or vice-versa?) If running in front and in mono, I’d anticipate the order to be Input tip → A Tip → A Ring → Output tip (or output ring) . Anything else would suggest the output running in stereo/dual mono and the second output not going anywhere.
The MXR is connected in a dedicated loop. In 4cm The ML10x allows to choose if you want it in front or in the amp fx loop. The feedback only occurs when I put it in front the amp, not when in the amp´ s fx loop!
In todays rehearsal I had it programmed in the amp fx loop… no feedback
By now I can live with having the MXR phaser in the amps fx loop. Not so sure when I will use a distortion or overdrive pedal which will have to be in front of the amp.
