Getting noise when ML10X has all pedals in chain active and I turn off pedals

Hello and good day,
I have all my mono pedals setup in a standard chain to test the connections of each pedal. When I stomp the off switch on all pedals I get noise and not a clean signal. Turn on one pedal and the noise goes away.

???

Mike

Have you tried putting a buffer in front of the ML10X ?

The ML10X has buffers all the way through it, so shouldn’t be an issue.

Are the inputs and outputs set correctly? e,g, is there a rouge ring where the tip should be?

What kind of noise are we talking about? Do you get noise if no pedals are connected to the ml10x?
Did you try to disconnect pedals one at a time to test if one of the pedals is causing the issue. Might be a faulty buffer or a digital unit that doesn’t get enough power.

Not sure what you mean by rouge ring. I checked all the sends by pulling the pedals and when I touch the tip I hear when my finger touches the tip

I have not tried no pedals connect but the noise is hard to describe. it’s almost like the sound of say an old strat pickup plugged into a bigmuff into a marshall. When you click on the distortion and don’t play you get that shhhh, hum type of sound

How are you powering your pedalboard/the morningstar products. Could be power related/grounding issue.

Auto correct change the word. I meant is there an output ring where the tip should be in the setup?

I have a Friedman pedal board and powering with CIOKS power supplies.

I think I was very careful to setup send/receives with splitter cables provided by Morningstar.

What pedals are you using with the ML10X?

Possible to try to isolate if it is one pedal causing the issue?

Just to clarify, the issue occurs if all the pedals are active in the ML10X, but bypassed on the pedal itself?

So what you can do is try removing each pedal one by one from the ML10X (just bypass them in the software) and see if the issue resolves.

Hello James,

Possible to try to isolate if it is one pedal causing the issue?
Fulltone Full-Drive 2
MXR Phase 90
Electro Harmonix Big Muff new small footprint
Fullton OCD
Strymon Volante
Strymon Deco
Fulltone MDV-3
Dunlop Cry Baby

Just to clarify, the issue occurs if all the pedals are active in the ML10X, but bypassed on the pedal itself?
All pedals are set to active in the ML10X, I started to turn them off by pressing the stomp switch.
When they are all of I hear a white noise static sound from Friedman Pink Taco Amp

I am working on setting the bypass in the pedals I suspect are the culprit using multiple presets but have not physically tested that yet. I suspect it’s the Big Muff and or Full Drive-2.

Deco is also getting some strange almost feedback sound when I turn it on, I have verified the send and returns are correct. The Deco removed from pedal board and plugged directly guitar, deco, amp work perfectly but on the board not, it’s like the sound/noise coming from the chain of pedals is causing the feedback sound. I also have a preset just for the Deco to see if another pedal is causing this.

Mike

Are all the pedals in front of the amp or any of the pedals in the fx loop? What order do the pedals follow?

After some trouble shooting it came down to two bad patch cables

Thank you all for suggestions

Glad you got it sorted
