I have an MC6 Pro and am having an issue with GarageBand.
I use GarageBand’s looping function to learn songs and also tweak my presets and pedal settings for different song sections.
I have the MC6 Pro controlling an ML5, a DD200 & an Iridium.
All my presets on the MC6 Pro are set to only send midi messages on the specific channels required for that preset change.
The problem is that when I engage certain presets it will also control functions in GarageBand like muting a track or pausing playback.
This makes it difficult to use my normal workflow.
I end having to tweak settings then disconnect the MC6 Pro from my Mac to practice along with GarageBand, then if I need to tweak something I have to reconnect to make the changes, then repeat the whole thing.
I can’t find a way to keep the MC6 Pro from sending these unwanted messages to GarageBand.
Hi… so your effects pedals are connected to the Pro via DIN / TRS etc and the mac is connected to the Pro via USB, I guess?
Is the Pro sending commands to the Mac/GB, or is the Pro receiving “instructions” from the Mac? Are you sending GB PC/CC MIDI, or keystrokes eg up, down, enter etc?
Have you got midi coming out of any of the pedals and back into the Pro? Could it be some inbound message to the Pro is triggering an “out” to GB? ‘MIDI Implementation’ section of MC6 PRO User Manual shows what inbound midi triggers, maybe the Pro’s receiving a midi of or cc that’s triggering a preset etc unexpectedly?
My setup is really simple so I don’t have experience but check ‘Handling MIDI Thru’ section of the manual… maybe some changes in there will fix it?
Yes the Dd200 is hooked up via 3.5mm TRS, and the Iridium is 1/4”TRS, the ML5 is on a DIN plug, & the Mac is in the USB C.
I’ll check the midi through settings.
Never used GarageBand but a shot in the dark. Can you specify which midi channel to listen in GB? Sounds like it’s set to Omni and certain things you’re sending to other pedals may have a random target on the same CC/PC#. But I’m not very familiar with DAWs and midi, more so standalone devices.
I have not been able to find a way to specify midi channels in GarageBand. I had hoped the community may have some insight on that, because it seems like the most likely culprit at this time.
