Fractal Integration with ML5

Hello everyone!
I have a Fractal FM3, an MC8 controller, and an ML5.
For Fractal integration, you must connect the MC8’s MIDI in and MIDI out to the Fractal.
I also have an ML5 because I have analog pedals that I’d love to use, but when I create the chain, the fractal integration doesn’t work or the ML5 doesn’t work.
Is it possible to have fractal integration with the ML5?
Thanks!

I think Fractal integration requires SysEx messages and the ML5 doesn’t pass them along. Two possible solutions:

  1. Connect the ML5 to the MC8 using one of its omniports. You’ll need an adapter that converts TRS MIDI into DIN.
  2. Use a MIDI splitter for the MIDI signal coming out of the MC8. Since it’s just one split straight out of the MC8, it might be possible to just do one of those cheap splitter cables that splits the signal in two (at the cost of weakening it). That has worked for me like 90% of the time, but sometimes, an active splitter box might be required.

Thanks for the reply!
I hadn’t thought about omniports.
I’ll get the appropriate cable and test it.

I still need to figure out how I would input the ml5 messages into the Fractal integration. That will be a problem to be resolved!

Thanks!

You can consider using the fractal’s Scene MIDI Block to send PC or CC messages back to the Morningstar, then enable MIDI thru for the DIN => Omniport connection in your Morningstar Controller Settings. That way, each Fractal setting can specify its own ML5 setup.
