Looking at the VP4 now and came across a Morningstar video about integration with other fractal units and it looks really interesting. I would pull the trigger on the VP4 right now if this was going to happen.
I don’t think Fractal have published MIDI SysEx documentation for the VP4, which is the system being used for two-way communication with the Axe FX and others. The VP4 does have pretty extensive MIDI control capabilities, and I’ve run into plenty of people who use our controllers to control their VP4s to switch presets, scenes, engage/bypass blocks, switch fx channels, etc. Other than the fact that the names of stuff won’t show up on your Morningstar controller, I think most of the main controls are assignable to MIDI.
For what it is worth I just saw this on fractal forum!
“Good news, I just heard from Matt at Fractal and they have implemented third party support for the VP4, they just never announced it. I have the info now and will implement it in the next release. It probably won’t be until October, since I just did a release, but I’ll do what I can to get it done.”
Thanks for the heads-up, I’ve pointed our engineering team to the original post here: 3rd Party Midi Capability? RJM Mastermind LT | Fractal Audio Systems Forum
