I think I mentioned this in another post, but didn’t explain clearly. The midi dictionary is useful, but most of my presets are a combination of commands controlling multiple pieces of gear at the same time, for example, one preset mutes two pedals, engages a vocal preset on another, and engages a preset on another. There are a lot of combinations, and I have done most of them at some point, so when building a bank for a new song the presets I need are already created, just scattered through other banks and I have to go looking for them. If I could just add the preset to a dictionary or list, that would keep a copy of them in one spot and make it much faster setting up a new bank. Even better if this list could open in a new window so I could keep the new bank open and just choose presets from the list.
That would be perfect! I’ll check it out.
I was coming here just to say, “I want that too!” and boom, there it is…. I will play around with this and provide feedback in the appropriate channel.
Quick glance, my initial thought is, I might want my reverb pedal to have one preset, and my delay to have another and then my loop switcher to have yet another. Is it possible to use multiple “User Library” options in one preset? Again, I’ll explore this a bit and see how it works for me.
Another thing I like doing is to download a backup of my device and open it in the Setlist manager, which is a much easier interface for looking at multiple banks and seeing what your presets are at a glance: https://editor.morningstar.io/mcgen2-setlist-manager
It appears that this will save a single CC or PC message, but not the whole preset containing multiple messages. Am I missing something?
that should save the whole switch preset.
I just went back to try again and the user library is gone from the menu.
it’s not there beneath “Save to File”?
It was a couple of days ago. Gone now.
ok, it’s back, and now asks me to log in to use the library. I did, but when I save the preset it shows it is in the user library, but how do I access it? How can I load it to another bank?
As shown in my screenshot above, it should have a “Load from User Library” underneath the “Load from file” function
Ok, it’s clear now. Looks like I can view the presets under User Library, but I have to use the load menu in the preset editor to load them. This will be a huge time saver. Thanks! The only improvement would be a way to arrange the presets into groups, like all my bass presets in one place, synth presets, etc. Still, being able to scroll through one list instead of searching through the banks is fantastic!
You can also consider just saving and arranging them locally on your own drive if you want more organizational power. The Setlist manager lets you edit presets without attaching a controller so it’s also a great way to develop your own management system.
