Absolutely loving the new Multi-Engage/Bypass feature, this is drastically simplifying my presets.
I’d be really stoked if the Multi-Engage/Bypass feature could support effects pedals that have multiple effects that need to be bypassed, such as the Source Audio Collider, which has no single CC message to bypass the full pedal. It acts as a two-in-one pedal, so there is one CC to bypass the reverb, and a separate CC to bypass the delay. I can get around this by configuring a new midi channel with the needed CC and re-mapping it to the same channel as the Collider, but I am out of channels so I have to do one of them the old-fashioned way.
There is a similar limitation for effects loop switchers. I have a mixture of midi and non-midi pedals in my board, and all of them are wired into a true bypass FX loop switcher that requires a different CC to toggle each effect loop.
So let’s say my FX loop switcher is on Channel 1, and my MIDI compatible pedal is on Channel 2. I can configure Channel 2 in controller settings to use the pedal’s own internal bypass, but if I want to bypass is using the FX loop switcher, I need to go to an unused MIDI channel, re-map it to channel 1, and then configure the Bypass with the CC messages that my FX loop switcher is expecting.
Because my loop switcher has 8 FX loops, I have to treat it like 8 different devices remapped onto 1 channel. This also means that the re-mapped midi channels might accidentally receive MIDI messages that were not intended for that device.
This feature would absolutely shine (at least in my use-case) if I could go into a single Midi channel in Controller Settings and designate an arbitrary number of Engage/Bypass messages for that channel, and assign them names so that they are easy to parse when I’m setting up the multi-engage message in my preset.
I know I’m asking a lot and this feature might not be for everyone. I absolutely love the Multi-Engage function and I think it is a huge step in the right direction.
I agree, this would be useful to control effect blocks of multi effects like the boss gt or line6 hx, too.
To take the idea further, it would be great if we could get some sort of quick edit mode on the MC. I think of something like the manual mode of an Boss ES 8 where you can choose individual effects by pressing the switches and save the combination to the preset on the fly.
I have the same issue with a pedal that has multiple effects (it’s the Jackson Audio Bloom, with separate engage/bypass for comp, eq, and boost). My workaround is to use separate midi channel settings for each, and then remap the midi channel for all 3 to the channel the pedal is on. But it would be great to not have to use those extra channels.
ok, bit late to the party but ’m only just getting around to setting up this awesome feature with my controller and i was immediately all in on it being a gamechanger… it’s awesome but yeh, as everyones already mentioned, does hit a slight snag a few very common modern scenarios, like pedals that have multiple fx to be bypassed.
in my case a bunch of chase bliss pedals with have left & right fx with their own engage/bypass CC’s
.…also things like the digitech whammy iv, that uses PC for the egnage/bypass messages, not CC…
tried the spare midi channel remap workaround too but it doesn’t fully cover me cause i’m at 15 channels already.
any word on this feature being extended to cover these other situations?
Blatantly necro-ing my own thread out of selfishness but just thought I’d ask - is there any chance we might see a feature like this in the near-to-medium term?
It would be so nice to just select every effect and fx-loop from a row of tick boxes instead of configuring messages for the overflow.
