Feature request - Favorite preset list

I have the MC8 Pro. I’m controlling a Boss GM-800, VG-800, VE500, RC-600 and Headrush Flex prime. I have a bank with my most commonly used presets, but I also have setlists with a bank dedicated to each song with the presets I use for that song. When I add a new song I have to use copy and paste to populate the new bank, and that means hunting through the banks looking for the presets I need. I would find it very useful if there was something like the MIDI dictionary, but was a list I could add presets too. Then I could chose presets out of that list without hunting for them. I could click on the empty slot, click a favorites button and scroll through my presets and choose one. I would find it a huge time saver, but maybe that’s just me.

A Trello card has been created for this request: Feature request - Favorite preset list

This already exists: User Library in the editor.

 I must have missed that in an update. Thanks!

I checked that out, but unfortunately, that doesn’t help. I can save PC commands, and CC commands, but not entire presets. This would allow me to build a preset, but most of mine have at least three and sometimes five PC commands, and six to eight CC commands. That’s a minimum of adding nine or 10 messages per preset, and honestly, it would be faster to build it from scratch. If you could save the entire preset to a user library it would be different.

Hi,

did you try to work with the setlist editor?

It’s not exactly what you’ve asked for, but you might find it to be useful.

This is not integrated into the main editor yet, but you can save your patches here: https://editor.morningstar.io/patch-share

I’ve seen that, but that doesn’t really fit what I’m trying to do either. It could be that not many people use the same workflow as I do. I have some banks with different presets for different devices, but I have 30 or 40 Banks dedicated to individual songs with the presets that I need for those songs. When I add a new song I need to populate a new bank with presets I need for that. Currently I have to go into other banks find the preset that I need, copy it, return to the new bank, paste it, save it, then go looking for the next preset. It’s not that big a deal, but if there was a way to store a list of presets in one spot that you could access from the new bank it would make it a lot easier. For example, if I could select patch A in the new bank, open a drop-down list and choose Harmony preset and have it populate, then move to bank B, open my drop-down list and choose acoustic and have it populate, and continue down the line selecting presets until I have all I need in that bank.

I really really wish for this feature as well :folded_hands:
Being able to flag or save certain presets as favorites would be a great timesaver.
In the Editor I wish for at new tab called FAVORITES or perhaps just a special bank called FAVORITES.

The real big thing would be the possibility to update all presets that originated from a given favorite preset, if that particular favorite preset has been edited.
Say I edit my favorite CLEAN 1 preset I would then have the option to UPDATE ALL, ie. update all presets in alle banks that have commands linked to my favorite CLEAN 1 preset.

A key practicality when making a new preset based off of a favorite preset is the need to visually identify which commands are linked to my favorite preset (these are the commands that will be updated if I choose to UPDATE ALL on my favorite preset)

In a new preset, started from a favorite preset, I’d be able to collapse/expand the commands that are linked to my favorite preset. When expanded, a colored box/border appear around the commands that are linked to my favorite preset. If I drag a command down/out of that colored box, that specific command is no longer linked to my particular favorite preset.
I would use this to send a different PC message to my GFI Synesthesia and my HX Stomp, all other commands would be linked to my favorite preset.

I assume a lot of us re-use basic presets as starting points for creating meaningful presets for a new song/bank. In my rig I constantly re-use presets called:

CLEAN 1, CLEAN 2, OD 1, OD 2, LEAD
I need to either compile a bank of these presets (I should have done this!) or remember in which song/bank I did the latest tweak to my LEAD sound for instance. Copy from there and do my specific additions/alterations for say a LEAD preset for a new song.

The ongoing search for the holy grail of toan means that for every song/bank that use CLEAN 1, I need to update multiple banks/songs every time I tweak a version of my CLEAN 1 preset. I quickly loose track and often do not have the time to maintain this kind of consistency.

I’ve been a Moringstar user for 4-5 years. I’ve patiently been waiting for this feature and maybe what I wish for, is already possible. Please inform me
I only use 10-15% of what is possible with this incredibly awesome and complex product you have created.
