There are several commands that I want my aux switches to always be (mainly functions with my Boss RC-500 looper), especially because they don’t have labels that change with each bank. Right now, you can assign a preset within a bank to a footswitch. However, with the implementation of resistor ladder switches, using that method would take up to 16 presets/bank.
What I would like to see is the ability to use aux switches like a separate, always active, bank unto themselves with each switch having up to 16 messages and all of the action and message types the onboard switches currently have. That would allow the resistor ladder switches to truly be used with the absolute highest level of flexibility. They could even maintain their current abilities to change functions with each bank via Trigger Messages.
We can possible implement something like a global preset for this. So 16 extra presets in the controller that remains the same regardless of bank. I can’t confirm if it will work yet, but we’ll look into it.
The way the controller is now, you already have global presets, they’re just very limited to a single message (unless you tie them to a bank preset) and a restricted set of messages they can send. Given everything else the team has accomplished with this software, I have absolute confidence in their ability to figure this out.
Furthermore, I am absolutely stoked to be part of a community where I can make a suggestion that gets noticed, considered, and possibly even implemented. Honestly, I am so glad I decided to go the Morningstar route to control my board.
I am building a 16 button controller now and ignorantly already thought this was the behaviour. Glad to see MS are working on implementing this. Would be huge!
We’re not working on this yet. Just to be clear, we’re not talking about adding additional presets per bank, but rather, presets that are set on a controller level (basically additional presets that remain regardless of bank).
