Hi team,
I’d love to request two related features that would dramatically reduce the friction of maintaining large setups on the MC series.
Bank Templates
Ability to save a bank configuration as a template where some fields can be left as “Define when apply” (essentially placeholders).
When you apply the template to a new (or existing) bank, the editor would prompt only for the undefined values.
Use case: Many of my banks are almost identical except for a few song-specific parameters (PC numbers, tempo, a couple of CCs, bank name, etc.). Right now I duplicate a whole bank and then hunt through every preset to change the differences. A template would make this fast and less error-prone.
2. Referenceable User Presets
A library of full presets that can be referenced (not just copied) from any number of bank presets.
Changing the user preset once would update every place that references it.
Use case: I frequently end up copy-pasting the same preset into 8–12 different banks. When I later refine that preset (add a message, change a toggle behaviour, fix a channel, etc.) I have to hunt down every copy, update it, and then re-test every button because I’m never 100 % sure I caught them all. A true reference system would eliminate the duplication and the testing anxiety.
These two features would turn the editor from “very powerful but maintenance-heavy” into something that scales cleanly as the number of banks and presets grows. The current tools (User Library, copy/paste bank, JSON export, Setlist Manager, Patch Share) are already excellent — these would just complete the reuse story.
Happy to provide more detailed mock-ups or discuss implementation ideas if useful.
Thanks for the continued work on the editor — it’s already one of the best MIDI controller experiences out there.
