Hello Morningstar.
Still a bit new to Morningstar programming, so maybe this is already in your software, but I will ask the question anyway.
To understand my question/request you I need to give you “a picture” of my Morningstar MC8 logic.
Bank 1 is used as a launchpad for Song Banks. 7 buttons on each page in Bank 1 is used to bank-jump to other banks, that each contains 6 Song Setup preset for each page. This gives me a total of 168 Song presets, and should cover my needs for quite some time. All good.
Song presets take care mostly of PC messages for all my connected gear and DAW project recall.
The two remaining presets on each page of every Song Bank are identical …
- a Page Swap preset that changes between page 1 and 2 on the Song Bank.
- a Preset that takes me to a special Bank for Functions that I use during a song.
(Effects on/off, DAW start/stop and so on) - One page is for Effects and the other page is for DAW control.
There is only one Effect/Daw bank on the MC8 controller, and every song banks can Bank Jump too this bank. Lets call this bank for FUNCTION 1. There is no need to create exclusive Function banks for every song, because my control needs are the same for all songs. There is not enough banks available either to pull this off.
With regards to the “getting back home” …
for the Song Banks, each Song Bank has a LONG PRESS action to Bank Jump back to Bank 1, and the page on bank 1 used to enter the bank in the first place. All good.
for the FUNCTION 1 bank it has a LONG PRESS action to Bank Jump back to Song Bank and page used to enter the FUNCTION 1 bank in the first place. Also all good.
BUT …
at some point in time my needs will change, equipment is added, equipment gets more control opportunities with new firmware and so on … so we need more control presets that FUNCTION 1 can handle. We need the FUNCTION 2 bank.
The logical thing to do would be to set up a PAGE JUMP from FUNCTION 1 to FUNCTION 2, and now (finally) we get to the issue at hand …
We have now broken the link to get back to the Song Bank that originally took us to the FUNCTION 1 bank. as the GOTO LAST USED BANK feature now refers to the FUNCTION 1 bank … and not the SONG BANK used to take us to the FUNCTION 1 bank …
The door back to mummy is shut closed !!!.
So the main question is … is there a way to solve this with the current software ?
If not … would a way around this be to implement an option for a bank to NOT UPDATE the LAST USED BANK setting so that the FUNCTION 1 bank would still remember what Song Bank was used to jump to it ?
