Fade out in sync/clock?

Using waveform generator to fade out several devices with sawtooth down, single. Can it sync with clock? Or is it just a fixed time ignoring the clock?

There’s an option for each generator to follow MIDI Clock: CC Waveform Generators

Thanks. I failed to realize my MC8 is before the pedal that generates midi clock (RC600), so I don’t think the MC8 knows what “clock” to reference. Unless clock goes through all devices before and after the one generating it?

Yeah, the MC8 won’t know about clocks that are generated further down the chain. When I have a pedal after my controller that I NEED to have generate the clock, I’ll sometimes send the tap tempo to it from the controller, and use that action to ALSO generate a local clock for the Morningstar controller to use.

Sounds like you’re using the controller to create the tempo in that case. I have preset song bpm’s in the RC600 so was wanting to use that as the master. One could create song templates in the MC8 to work in tandem but I don’t want to go down that editing road. I’m looking into using the usb ports to send clock upstream to the MC8 but haven’t got it working.

Yeah, to create the tempo, but just for the MC8 itself. Since the RC600 is master, it would just ignore the incoming midi clock. The generated midi clock on the mc8 would literally just be so that your waveforms are timed.

Makes sense for a workaround.

I wasn’t in the know about usb device vs host. I think solution is a midi host/split box.

Can I ask what your MIDI chain is like and what pedals are involved? I’m not certain you need a MIDI host or a splitter box depending on how things are routed.

I think it’s possible if re-order the midi path and loop back, but it’d be a fair bit of rewiring and not 100% sure it would work.

Pic 1 is the current setup. The midi path ends at a Helix. The MC8 (and the other controllers) control everything after it, so it’s early in the midi path. I think adding a midi host where the usb cable (red) will get clock from the RC600 to the MC8.

Pic 2 might be a way to rewire. The RC would send clock on the output, and the MC8 would send any CC PC back to the to the RC input. Might work in theory. I’d have to add a few more cables, the midi baby 3 needs a breakout DIN cable etc…

I turn fx on and off for several units, change amp presets, change drum patterns etc thus all the controllers. Could do it with just the MC8 but I do it on the fly.

Yeah, routing back to the MC8 using a MIDI USB Host is probably the least painful way to get the clock back to the MC8 based on your current setup. I’ve used the Disaster Area gHOST, CME’s new H2Midi, and my travel board currently uses a Raspberry Pi programmed to be a MIDI host (lol). There’s a bunch of them out there these days.

Good luck!

Fyi the usb host worked sending clock back to the MC8. However, I need the synched time longer than 4 whole notes to get a natural fade, it’s too fast. Submitted a feature request, I think it made it on the Trello.
