External Tap Tempo switch going crazy

Hi!

So, I am really much in love with my Morninstar MC8. I even expanded it with a wonderful 3x switch extension from pedalnatics.com (highly recommend!)… One of the 3 extra switches is to set the tap tempo. The other two serve for bank up/bank down.

Whenever I wanna tap in the tempo the number shown in the display starts to go crazy and completely off from what I am tapping in… For example I just turned on my metronome and tapped in 85 bpm… after 3 or 4 taps it immediately jumps from lets say 83/84 to 155… 162…222 and so on. forth and back. uncontrollable… I reset the Ominport 1 with the editor… same thing.

It worked this afternoon for a few minutes and now is back to crazy mode… It s a real bummer.
I have firmware 3.12.6…

Furthermore besides the crazy numbers that are not accurate I am did not manage yet to use the external switch to tap in the ANY delay tempo changed with my effects at all so far… It just doesn’t seem to reach the units. PS changes work without a problem though.

Any idea what this could be?

Hi,
sounds like a midi loop to me. Did you connect anything to the mc’s midi in? Is something sending clock to the mc?

It unfortunately happens no matter if a midi cable is connected or not. Also happens when connected via USB to the editor on my Mac…

Did you update the firmware recently?

Hi! Do all three external switches behave normally if you set them to other functions, like banking up and down or change pages? Also, what kind of 3x switch did you get? The standard TRS switch where the third switch is just Tip+Ring, or the newer resistor ladder switches. I ask because Pedalnetics makes both, and I’m wondering if a resistor ladder switch set up as if it was a normal switch might really confuse your MC8.

More generally though, are you also saying that MIDI clock is not being sent from your MC8 to any of your other pedals?
