I have my MC6Pro Receiving Midi clock from MPC live.
MC6Pro goes to CBA BLOOPER and MOOD MKII … Both have been tried with omniport, configured to Ring Active as well as Din5 to CBA MIDI BOX… BLOOPER makes it obvious that midi clock is not working when being passed THRU. It needs to.
If I connect CBA midi box direct to MPC midi out, and CBA midi box to BLOOPER, I get rock-solid timing. If I put something with a THRU between MPC and CBA MIDI BOX - BLOOPER, I still get solid timing… The MC6Pro, regardless of Omniport, or Din5 is not passing THRU MIDI CLOCK.
Blooper has a idiocsyncracy where if “stability” is at all up, the loop will drift, as it should, its supposed to. But with all settings in a spot where it should lock, its drifting. Im on latest firmware, im using web editor. I have lots of exp with jittery midi clocks and where and when to make compromises.
Hoping this is fixable. If its only got “soft thru” its likely going to be an indefinite issue. The “looper” mode is a thoughtful solution to some things, but not sure its applicable in this case.
Is it a soft thru? Will the omniports ever be able to transmit an external clock correctly?
side note -
changing midi channel was an issue with mood mkii but suspect its the problem that Paul uhl showcases on their youtube with GenLossMkii and midi clock being sent while prgram change is trying to switch midi channel…
Wondering if having the MC6Pro connected to the computer via USB is potentially causing a problem?
Could it also have something to do with “midi clock persist” ?
There were a number of bugs related to MIDI Clock handling and MIDI thru that we fixed in the current beta firmware. Can you give the beta firmware a try? I believe it should resolve the issues you are facing:
There is a new feature to allow you to set the ports to send MIDI clock to, so just be sure to set this correctly as well:
If I want an EXTERNAL CLOCK Source, Should the first section MIDI CLOCK PORT SETTINGS be deselected and only highlight MIDI THRU PORTS in the places I want it to pass through? With both selected, both MIDI CLOCK PORT, (The section that was there previously), and the new MIDI THRU section, Im getting same drifting behaviour.
I’ve tried a variety of configurations, with midi box, without, meaning omniport to pedal or din5 to cba midi box… All with the beta, all with varying settings in the beta editor. It did slow the rate at how fast it began to go out of sync, by maybe 4 bars… In other words, originally, it would be out of sync within 2 rounds of the loop, dramatically drifting, whereas this firmware has it taking maybe twice as long to go awry.
If there is a specific setup you want me to try im willing to do whatever to assist the situation.
did you find a solution? i’m having trouble with my CBA thermae, mood mkii and microcosm, they’re all receiving midi clock but i notice drifts between them, especially when i use external midi clock (from my daw via usb c)
currently using mc6pro with 13.12.13 firmware
