Hi , i’ve encounter several time some problem with the use of the midi expression pedal (BOSS EV 30).
I’ve setup my MC8 Input 1 from an expression control. It control my hardware like this :
I use my expression pedal to control parameter like Thing 1 and 2 on both Empress and The filter cutoff on the Korg.
So my problem is that when i use a CC by moving my expression destined to the Empress pedals, it randomly do a PC … I’ve try this with the Midi Monitor : all message send is correct , no sign of a PC send from the MC8 on the monitor but the Empress still change it’s program randomly. Not great in live performance…
does someone have encounter this kind of problem ? What should i do to isolated and locate the problem ? Is it from the MC8 (parameter or something else)?
Or is it an Empress problem ?
All my gear are updated with the last firmware, i’m very familiar with the MIDI universe.
I have been doing and re-doing my MC8 preset several time with different expression control (Expression linear, Expression custom etc…)
The MC8 won’t randomly send a PC message that it is not programmed to send. Can you share a screenshot of the editor showing your expression preset?
How is everything connected MIDI-wise? I’d recommend trying to connect the Echosystem directly to the MC8 first (without any other pedals) and then see if the problem still persists. Then we can rule out that the message is generated from some other device.
Is there anything connected to the MIDI IN port on the MC8?

I agree with you , MC8 respond perfectly on the Midi monitor. for example : I have no problem to control my Filter cutoff on my Korg Minilogue with my BOSS EV30, i suspect the Empress pedal…
I dont have my MC8 with me so i’ve use the demo mode and re-create the bank and preset as i programmed it.
Echosystem (midi ch 3)/ TRS cable plugged → Omni port 3
Reverb (midi ch 4)/ TRS cable plugged → Omni port 4
Boss EV 30/ TRS cable plugged-> Omni port 1
Korg Minilogue (midi ch 6) → Midi DIN port
