Delay when switching

Hi, hoping someone can help!
I use 2x ML5’s controlled by an MC6 pro, all of my pedals are looped into the ML5s, midi and non-midi for ease of use and to help if there’s any failure in the audio chain.

I tend to build my presets on separate banks, one for each pedal, just sounds I like etc I then recall these presets in other banks which are built specifically for songs- so on these banks the “verse” preset would recall whatever presets from the pedal banks that I like.

I use the ML5s “bypass all” function on each of these song specific presets that way everything that may have been on will be off, I then engage the loops that I want on on that same preset after the bypass all message is sent.

I am noticing that when I click one of these song specific presets there is a noticable gap where the “bypass all” switches all the ML5s loops off before engaging the ones I’ve selected, there is no gap in my stompbox mode which just uses the ML5s “toggle value” CC messages.

im wondering if there is anyway to avoid this gap as i honestly cant think of another way to build out my midi presets than turning everything off before selecting the ones I want on. Thanks!

Do you mean there is a delay inbetween when you engage preset on the MC6 PRO to when it actually switches, or are you referring to an audio volume drop when switching presets?

If the former, it might be related to this: Switch Latency | Morningstar Engineering Helpdesk

Not so much, it’s to do specifically (I think) with the ML5’s bypass all function.

For example:
Preset A, Verse:
Press: Bypass All (ML5)
Press: Engage Loop 1 (ML5)
Press: Engage Loop 2 (ML5)

There is a gap between the “bypass all” and the engaging of the loops that should follow all with the same press (its not a toggle thing) you can see the LED turn on and off quickly on the physical looper but there is a delay in the pedals coming on.
Thanks!

Can you try just having a Preset on the ML5 with everything bypassed and just calling that preset instead of the Bypass ALL command? I’m curious if you hear a difference in latency.

The preset would have to toggle everything to bypass though? So if i was playing around with random loops etc and then went to play a section of song id have to have the preset assigned to that part of the song reset the loops to bypass before toggling the pedals that need to be on for that preset.

If it does work better than sending the Bypass Al CC message, then I’d just set Preset 127 or whatever to be a bypass all preset and then use that one wherever I was previously using Bypass All.

That’s kind of what Im doing- I have a bank for functional presets so I can build song specific presets easier in other banks- this preset I put first in all messages is this one that bypasses all on the ML5, im just wondering if there’s a way to lower the latency between the messages sent in a single press

I just tested this - it is almost instantaneous for me when sending a CC#0 value 0 and 127 message to engage and bypass all.

I just saw this. So the relays are switchin instantly but you were referring to the audio. Is the Red LED dimming when you switch? If so, then it is related to the muted switching option, where one of the loops might be set to engage the muted switching.

Thanks, i’ve wondered if muted switching has been accidentally engaged, i need to check this out.
