I went through the editor, searched the manual and forum; so I apologize if this has been asked and answered. Is there a setting to decrease the font size of the Bank and Page Numbers displayed on the MC8 Pro’s first screen? Or perhaps move them to the last screen?
I liked them much better in a small text on the last screen of the MC6 Pro. The “Default Text Size” setting changes everything but the Bank/Page numbers.

Yeah, I agree that it’d be good to be able to decrease the bank/page number text size. I have zero use for bank/page number because I name my banks…..but I understand that other users may need these. However, having an option to change the size or disable these altogether would be good.

Bonus points for being able to choose and format what is displayed on each screen.
Ah! That’s the dream. As far as I can tell nothing displays on the fourth screen… wasted space.
But I don’t want to leave the wrong impression. Overall this is an amazing device, and the features they have added are great! Unless size is an issue, this is the controller everyone should get. 8 switches is the tipping point. It’s like finally get a pair of pants that aren’t too tight. You can finally breath!

It’s only day one for me with my MC8 Pro, but I’m finding the text in the middle white strip really invasive. Anything that could be done here would be appreciated!
Does that strip always have to be white (not played enough with it yet)?
I would definitely support this. In fact, I’d like to be able to turn it off entirely and/or re-purpose it.
You can change the center strip background color and text color in the “Bank Settings” tab of the editor. It’s a little awkward to use because you have to set it for each bank. At least I couldn’t find a way to “apply all.” Anyway, you can make the text and background colors the same, effectively hiding the text… if you just don’t want to see anything.
I don’t want to hide the center text. I just to customize the message in each display and the ability to turn off (or at least minimize) the Bank and Page text in the first display.

Thanks for that. I would like control over the middle strip on a per-LCD basis. That way, I can colour-code each one (as a single block of background colour in the whole LCD).

I discovered something which might be consider a bug as I was trying to completely reset all of my experimental bank and preset work (factory reset didn’t do it – what’s the best way?).
I went into the bank manager app, saved a “cleared” full set of banks to a JSON file, then loaded it into my MC8. When it did, all of the presets had no name, unlike when I first connected my MC8 and every preset in every bank had “EMPTY” as the name.
That’s interesting. So when you saved the cleared banks, were all the patches labeled as “Empty”, or were they simply cleared?
EDIT: I’ve just done what I believe to be exactly what you did and all of my presets are correctly restoring as “Empty”. I did it a few times, in addition to alternating between my current full backup and also powering down/powering up the MC8 Pro…I assume you’re referring to the Pro model? Just double-checking that we’re using the same controller.
FYI, all of my presets were labelled “Empty” when I backed up my controller, and they restored exactly the same way.
I went to https://editor-mkii.morningstar.io/mcgen2-setlist-manager, selected the MC8 Pro, and all of the presets were already cleared. i.e. Not labelled “Empty”. I think I clicked on “Clear”, but it made no difference.
Ok, I see. I used the regular editor to copy unused banks and then pasted them over my working banks….and then performed a controller backup. Our different approaches explains the different results.
Out of interest, is there a standard way of starting with a clean sheet?
Not to my knowledge, apart from the workarounds we’ve each used. It’d be nice to have a “Clear All” function.
I would very much like this, James. I appreciate you offering it. Something with 8-10 (based upon the “Default Font Size” setting in the editor. Basically, something 1/3 to 1/2 the size it currently is.

@VirusKiller, I was thinking about your question re. “starting with a clean sheet” and you could always do a factory reset. Note that it will reset everything on the controller, not just the patches. To clear all the patches, you’d use the Setlist Manager like you’ve been doing; you just wouldn’t have each patch labeled “Empty” as a result…not necessarily a bad thing.
“To reset your MC8 PRO to its factory settings, press switches [E+H]. Scroll to Factory Reset and select Reset Current Profile.”
A factory reset (none of the three options) didn’t clear the programming. I can try it once more to confirm. Is this a previously unknown bug @james ?
Just to clarify, you did a factory reset on the MC8 PRO itself? i.e press E+H to go into the device menu, and then navigate to Factory Reset >> Reset current profile? I just tested this and it works fine. What firmware is your MC8 PRO running?
Compiled firmware here with the adjustable settings for font size for Bank and Page. You can find it in the device menu (E+H), then navigate to edit global config and then Bank/Page Text Size which has a small, medium, large, hidden setting.

It was the out-of-the-box firmware that was shipped. I’ve subsequently updated it, but have been busy for a week.
