Controlling Vox Valvenergy (on/off) via link jack

Hi, I have a mc6pro and I would like to be able to turn on and off a vox valvenergy pedal that has a mini jack trs 'link. At the moment if I set: relay port A and select tip action (TAPNO) the effect turns off, but I can’t set the on. The manual says:

LINK jack: This jack lets you use a commercially available 3.5 mm mini-phone cable to connect to
another VOX effect pedal that also has a LINK jack. When multiple pedals are connected, turning
one effect pedal on bypasses the other pedals (link function). Use this function as a simple switcher between other effect pedals in this series.

So I don’t have a Valvenergy pedal, but the first thing I would do is to figure out how the tip and ring are being used. I tried to look up the documentation, but there isn’t any.

In your position, I’d probably dig up a dual footswitch aux pedal and just start pressing combinations until I could figure it out. It could be as simple as a pulse on Tip turns off and a pulse on Ring turns on. Or it could be something more, like the Ring needs to be on for a pulse on the Tip to turn the pedal on. I just don’t know.

If you don’t have an aux pedal, you can technically test on the MC6 Pro, but it’s a little more tedious. I’d try each of these messages (one at a time) to start:

See if any of those combinations get it to turn on.

hi, i tried all the combinations, but it doesn’t turn on, i tried to write to Vox to know the jack link diagram, i’ll update you! for now thank you very much!!!

Sounds like the link is designed to act like a ‘toggle reset group’. Which would imply that the pedal can be bypassed but not engaged.

Hi and thanks for the reply. Actually if you connect 2 vox pedals, when you turn off the first one the second one turns on and vice versa, so surely there is the possibility of understanding from them how this jack link works (I wrote an email to vox, I hope they answer me)

The Link feature of the ValvEnergy pedals can work with the link feature with additional connected ValvEnergy pedals but is not designed for connection and control with other external switchers.
