hi there - picked up the MC4 Pro recently (love it!) and am trying to hook it to control various plugins and channel strip settings on the UAD Console that comes with Apollos. My main query is how can we use the editor for toggle etc and changing preset names if the method of setting up midi commands is via a “learn” function using third-party software.
From what I can tell UA Console on its own can only be set up to change “scenes” using program change messages on tap tempo (CC number 64). But for other parameters there is no UA-specified way. There are third-party software solutions that can get the MC4 Pro to “learn” various commands. For e.g. once everything is hooked up, the software is able to read everything on my Console including various plug-ins on my channel strips + the basic Console commands like mute, solo etc. Then using the software I can assign Preset A on the MC4 to switch on/turn off an amp sim by selecting that function and pressing button A on the controller. Works like a charm. But I can’t find a way to reverse engineer the process so that I can actually have the preset name change on the controller to reflect the change of state of the amp sim.
(realize i may not be explaining this well but if anyone has experience programming midi to control UA Console then I am looking for tips and tricks!)
Cheers,
Vikram
