I am trying to control reaper daw with the Mc8 Pro. I go into actions on reaper. I was able to get switch a to control play/stop. And I was able to get switch B to move to marker 1. But have not been able to get any other switches to work. the procedure, as far as I know, to program reaper to respond to midi controllers is go to the actions, menu, find the action you want, and then select Add. a box then pops up and instructs the user to hit the midi key. That worked fine for switches A and B, but no response for any other switches. any ideas?
What MIDI commands are you using for each of your MC8 Pro switches? Your MC8 Pro switches will all need to be configured to send specific MIDI commands first of all, before mapping these to Reaper actions.
Ok. I figured that out. I have got it to respond by doing that. ON My mac. But when I do the same thing on my laptop, which is windows, it is unresponsive. There is something intermittently buggy about this. Thank you
Hi,
Midi and Windows don’t work well together in general.
You could try to use the ‘keystroke’ feature of the MC and control Reaper via the standard short cuts.
hmmm. I have been using windows for a long time. And for the most part, I haven’t had a problem with midi input. I will look into the keystroke feature. Thank You
That’s just not true. I use a MC8 as a controller with Sequoia 16 & 17 on Win 11.
It works great controlling basic and advanced DAW functions through DIN and USB. The software sees it as two separate controllers.
Even though I own Reaper, I’m not as familiar with it. Possibly add the MC as a hardware controller first.
Ok. I updated my Dell laptop windows machine. Bios etc. It is now working. before doing that I tried the MC8 on another windows machine and it worked instantly. So I figured it had to be the dell.
