Can't connect to MC6 PRO with linux anymore

Hi,

Since recently I didn’t had any issue connecting to my MC6 PRO with a USB cable through midi with Firefox, or Chromium, or Brave in Kubuntu. The browser sees the midi controller, start a connection, but it never move to open it :

But recently the only two way to connect are :

  • using the 3.11 !
    but it’s all empty in it : names, and messages…

  • using an android device
    but it is way less comfortable

I try :

  • the 3.11 editor that connect, and load but nearly all empty…
  • the beta editor here https://editor-mkii-staging.morningstar.io/mcgen2 but the connecting doesn’t load the editor, as 3.13
  • all the above with the 3.13.4 firmware, the 3.13.6 and the 3.14.0

My config :

  • MC PRO
  • USB-C cables
  • Kubuntu 26.04
  • firefox 155.0
  • chromium 152.0.7977.64
  • brave 1.94.117

Any other things to test ?

I’ve unburied a WIDI-jack device, and the connection with Bluetooth and Brave works perfectly in linux :face_with_raised_eyebrow: (not with Firefox or Chrome)

I’m happy to have a solution, and hope this path will remain open for some times…

How are your browsers installed? For Firefox unfortunately something is up with previous versions (while current version works perfectly) but what I found when trying to troubleshoot is that if browser is installed via flatpak, some sandbox permissions are not allowing it to see devices essentially while installing via package manager the previous versions work (on chromium)

Now I just wish I could update the firmware on my ML10X from Linux like I can with the MC6 PRO :folded_hands:

The Serial option is the alternative which should work. We don’t test and develop for Linux and hence cannot confirm whether the Serial option has an issue on Linux. Bluetooth works because it does not use Web MIDI, and hence is not affected by the Chromium bug.
