Can I use the MC6 to play a sequence of notes?

Hi folks, I’d like to know if the MC6 is the right tool for me, I play guitar in a band and I’m also responsible for playing some synth lead lines, I’d like to automate these by stepping on a switch.

I need to:

  • Be able set the tempo by tapping (we don’t play to a click)
  • Push a switch that will send a short, looped, polyphonic sequence of notes.
  • The switch should be momentary latched. Releasing it should stop the sequence. Pushing it should restart the sequence from the beginning.

Can the MC6 do this?
I know it’s very versatile and “can send up to 16 commands” which is probably enough for my dead simple leads, but I’d really love it if someone on here could confirm “Yes, I’ve used it as a sequencer!”

Hi,
the MC has a sequencer engine but it only generates CC messages.
It might be possible to ‘hack’ this by looping the CCs back to the MC and using the midi message converter to generate midi notes.
But it would be nice if it could generate midi notes, I’ll start a request. Maybe it can be implemented.

Really appreciate the explanation - sounds like this isn’t the right tool for this job.
Thanks!

I love using an Empress Effects ZOIA as a swiss army knife for this kinda thing. It together with one of our MIDI controllers is the heart of most of my rigs.

Thanks! I’ll look into that - was thinking about using my iPad but this might be better!
