Can I change the message sent by a preset when I rename it?

Hey,

I have an MC8 Pro bank with all pages filled with presets. I have a page dedicated to DAW track selection via a CC number, each number being the track ID as ordered in the DAW. Once I get past 8 tracks, I was thinking about double-tapping switch H with a few rename actions to get to the next 8 tracks (the MC8 Pro would then display track 9 to 16). But can I also make the preset send the corresponding CC numbers ? I know I could probably create a new page in the next bank with empty presets but if I can avoid that, how would I combine renaming and reprogramming the preset on the fly ?

Thanks for tips in advance!

If you don’t use toggle mode and or shift within your presets, you could use a ‘set toggle’ message to toggle all presets for example with a ‘double tap’. You’d have access to two more sets of presets this way. (pos2 and shift).

Thanks for feedback!

The thing is I do use toggle mode to see which track is currently selected in the DAW (feedback from the PC to MC8 Pro as I also have another controller for more refined control with my hands when I am not playing at the same time, I also make use of the shift mode in some other page but not in the track selection page).

If you ditch toggle mode, it would be possible to use ‘rename preset’ to give an indication which track is active.

Ah, that’s actually a good hint, thanks! I need to think how to optimize this …

I ended up rewriting my config from scratch and do not need to think about it any longer. I landed in a good spot I think. I need to practice using it while playing live and readjust if needed. When I am comfortable with the whole thing, I will probably post a video showing how I can use the MC8 pro to control Bitwig’s clip launching for live performances.
