I’m new to the forum. I recently purchased an MC-3 and still learning. I’m hoping someone can help. I have a few Strymon pedals and a Boss Sy-200 running midi and the tap for the Strymon’s are running just fine. For some reason I can’t get the Boss to work. I have synch set to auto and it’s showing midi on the screen of the pedal but nothing. Do I have to program separate cc messages where I assign the tap button? In this case it’s button c. If so, can someone guide me here? Thanks in advance! Rich
I dont own the pedal so I am not certain if I am correct.
On the SY-200;
It looks like you have to first assign “TAP” to the “Function” of the “Memory/Control” button.
(Pg 11 owners manual)
In the midi menu;
Make sure the pedal is set to receive midi and CC messages. It is two separate parameters.
(Pg 13)
Assign a CC# to Ctrl 1(or figure out which is already assigned?). Leave sync on auto.
(Pg 14)
MC3;
Add a separate message to your tap preset on button C for the Boss pedal with the CC# you just programmed.
(It should be press/ CC#/value=127/ but I seem to remember someone having to send press=127/release=0)??
Send it to the correct midi channel and you should be in sync.
Now this is strange. The pedal is responding BUT when I press button D on the Morningstar (TAP) it now just brings the tempo to the fastest rate of the SY and will NOT respond thereafter, so no TAP response. The pedal is then fixed at this rate. I’m just lost here! BTW thanks for the responses, very much appreciated.
