First time using a midi device on my pedalboard, so please be gentle. I’ve read the manual and also watched some videos about the ML5 (there arent any of the ML5R) and can’t make what i need it to work. I know that this was primarily designed to work with other Morningstar products (ML6, etc) but since it works with midi i thought it was gonna work anyway. I use patches in the MS3 to control some fx and the chain used for it, and im using the morningstar to switch between analog preamps (clean, dirt) plus an overdrive and comp, a octave pedal all to be recallable per patch.
Is it posible to work this way?
Sure, that’s possible.
If it’s your goal to set up patches with fixed combinations of effects the most straight forward way to do it would be to save presets on the ml5 and recall those via pc# messages.
First you’d have to set the ml5 to recieve midi on a distinct channel.
Set up a patch on the boss to send a pc# message on the channel you’ve chosen for the ml5. Send this pc# message and enter edit mode on the ml5.
Programm a preset with a combination of your effects on the ml5.
Send the pc# message again from your boss on the channel you’ve chosen for the ml5 to recall the preset.
