I’m using a Mac Air M3 and the only time I can make “some kind of” bluetooth connection is to remove and insert the power to the MC4 Pro. then once connected, most of the time the Bank names (LHS column) are not listed (hence “some kind of” bluetooth connection).
I see the MC4 Pro listed in Midi Studio so to my understanding the Mac should be able to connect. The USB connection works well.
Please advise next steps?
No need to reply as I have found the problem to be with the Strymon Ojai PSU. I will see if I can power the MC4 with a different supply which is not ideal. AI artical below:
Strymon power supplies (such as the Zuma or Ojai) feature a slow voltage ramp-up designed to protect gear, but this causes a “brown-out” for the Morningstar. This low-voltage window fails to initialize the controller’s Bluetooth chip, meaning it won’t broadcast or connect, often displaying a firmware version of 0.0.0.

This is a power-up compatibility issue that can occur with the bluetooth-equipped models when used with specific power supplies, mainly the Strymon power supplies. The issue does not affect normal operation once the device has started, but can cause the bluetooth module to not startup properly if you power the power supply via the mains. If you power cycle the controller (not from the mains), the module will boot up properly.
We have found a hardware fix for this, which involves soldering a capacitor to 2 points on the board. Should be an easy DIY fix if you have the parts/solder or have an electronics store nearby to do it. The modification is simple, low-risk, and completely resolves the issue. We will work on implementing this on future productions.

Based on our data, the issue only affects a small percentage of users and only under a specific combination of hardware and power supply conditions. Most customers will never encounter it.
