I connected an aux switch that I have been using to bank up and down for the MC6 itself. This is quite useful, as it is easier to reach.
It occurred to me that it would be useful to extend this so that I could toggle the function of the aux switch between bank up/down for the MC6, and bank up/down for whatever pedal I am currently playing with.
For example, I just hooked up an SY-200 - I’d like to have one of the 6 switches on a bank dedicated to the SY-200 set a toggle between the aux switch banking the MC6 and the aux switch banking the SY-200.
I can set the toggle position to toggle switch d between pos 1 and 2, as shown in videos.
What I’m not sure how to do is:
have the pos2 set by switch d in that bank migrate over to be seen by switches J K L on the aux switch
have switches J K L understand the midi channel of the current pedal to send their commands on the right midi channel (the C4 is channel 1, the SY200 is channel 11, etc).
what should happen:
click on switch D sets to pos 2 in a way that the aux switches J K L are also now in pos 2
being in pos2, the aux switches now know to send bank up down commands to the current pedal rather than the MC6
the aux switches know the current pedal because somehow it has been communicated that we are now in a bank dealing with channel 7 as opposed to 11, etc
clicking on switch D again goes back to pos 1 and the aux now reverts to banking the MC6
thoughts?? Kinda surprised this hasn’t been asked before but I didn’t see it.
-Program the J/K/L presets in each bank so that Position 1 sends MC6 banking commands, and Position 2 sends whatever banking commands are appropriate for that bank.
-Program the D preset with a Toggle Preset command for itself, assigned to both positions. You can program this once and then copy and paste this single preset to all banks, though you might need to change the preset names depending on how you want it to display in a particular bank.
-In the MIDI Editor, assign presets D/J/K/L in every bank to a single Toggle Group. Toggling preset D in any bank will now toggle all of those presets across every bank.
Thanks for the advice! Seems logical, and like it should work, but I am finding it does not.
Specifically, if I program the D preset to Toggle Preset on press, it does not seem to take. I have tried this with a single event programmed to toggle preset with pos of “both”, and with two separate press events programmed to toggle preset - one for pos 1 and on for pos 2.
If I use the press event the name changes to indicate pos 1 only when the button is pressed down, as soon as I release it the name changes back to indicate it is still in pos 2.
If I use the release event, then it never changes to indicate it has left pos 2.
I am using preset blink as a backup indicator of the pos state, and it always blinks when the button is up (also indicating pos 2)
OK - awesomeness - I figured out what I was doing wrong and made it work. I forgot that setting toggle mode on will cause the pos to switch btwn 1 and 2, which is a duplicate of what you are doing with the “toggle preset” command. So I took all those off and it was good. Thank you!
The only remaining weirdness, which may be a bug, is that whenever the J or K buttons are pressed the D button flashes its pos1 name, even though it executes the pos2 action. on release the name reverts to its correct state. I can live with it, altho I may submit a bug and def will if someone else confirms.
Hi… can you post a json export of your bank? I’d be happy to try on my MC and see if reproducible. Plus, really interested to see what you’ve done here, sounds very useful…. Thanks!
