Automatic MIDI Dictionary Selection

I’ve got a feature request that I think could speed up programming on the Morningstar controllers. When you select the MIDI channel for the CC message that you’re trying to program, could that automatically bring up the MIDI dictionary for that device (assuming it’s in the MIDI dictionary, perhaps assuming you’ve made it a device favorite already)? In other words, rather than selecting the MIDI channel, then going into the MIDI dictionary, then selecting the device whose MIDI channel you’ve already selected, most of those steps could be skipped. You select the MIDI channel, and then when you go to choose the CC message, you would just see the MIDI dictionary options, rather than the raw CC numbers (or perhaps you could see both?).

If that’s not possible, a halfway step that would still save a click would be that if you select the MIDI channel before going to the MIDI dictionary, when you get to the MIDI dictionary, the device whose MIDI channel you selected should be the default device that’s shown to you, so you don’t have to select it from your favorite devices.

Now that I’m thinking about it, I think this would require a smarter connection between MIDI channel and device, but perhaps that could be done in the MIDI channel settings similar to what we do today for Engage/Bypass.

Anyway, not a game changer, but just something that could really help streamline things, so wanted to throw it out there. Thanks for considering!

Somehow related to this: When I have assigned a CC value via MIDI Dictionary and re-open the Dictionary, it defaults to the first entry, not the one that has been assigned already. To my brain that’s confusing. I don’t know if this is the intended behaviour or a bug?
