Anyway to send midi clock to a Valeton GP-50?

I would like to send tap tempo from a MC8 PRO to a GP-50, no luck so far. Anyone succeed?

Connect a TRS cable from a relay to the GP-50’s expression/external switch port. Use the relay messages to send tempo taps either directly (press => relay engage, release => relay disengage) or indirectly (press → relay → sends taps). I don’t remember the exact terms off the top of my head, but if you can’t find them I can screenshot later.

Thanks for your answer. It does put the GP-50 in tap tempo mode, but so does sending the CC to enable tap tempo. Then I have to tap the tempo on the GP-50. I’d like, if possible to tap the tempo directly on the MC8PRO.

Ah, I didn’t realize the GP-50 had a tap tempo CC (the GP-5 does not). What I like to do with non-MIDI devices is to program their taps at the same time. So on the Morningstar, your tap tempo switch uses “MIDI Clock Tap” as the command for sending itself clock taps, something like

Msg 1. Press (pos:both) => MIDI Clock Tap

Add another message specifically for the GP-50

Msg 2. Press (pos:both) => CC Control Change [ whatever the CC is ]

Can the ccvalue being changed dynamically ? Like, can I program Msg2 => CC [value of the tap tempo from msg1]

Why? Whatever you’re tapping into that switch will be interpreted down both routes. Are you trying to convert a live tap into a number?

The Gp-50 has a CC for setting the bpm directly, and a CC to enter Tap/tempo mode. So yeah I was thinking that if I can set the value to whatever the midi clock is, it could work.

But the gp-50 has no other way to get the tempo from another device it seems:

Yeah, there’s no real math functions on the controller. You should probably connect a relay port with the expression port on the GP-50 and send an actual tap.
