Any plans for ML10X upgrade to add volume/gain controls to the internal mixer?

Hi there,

I am currently using the Oscillator Devices Hydra 4X as my midi loop switcher. Its a very clever device that is , as far as I know, the only one that provides the ability to do all the following :

  • set parallel loops just by pressing a footswitch, then going back to serial or whatever order you programmed (ML10X can do that too i believe)
  • set trails for the loop of your choice (ML10X can do I believe)
  • set split loops (ML10X can do ?)
  • SET VOLUME/GAIN at the input of the switcher (ie before all loops) or at the output (after all loops) –> ML10X & RJM Gizmo cannot do
  • SET VOLUME/GAIN position & amount to any of the loops, and either at the beginning or the end of said loop –> ML10X & RJM Gizmo cannot do
  • These volume controls can be set from -24dB to +24dB, it basically gives you the equivalent of a midi boost pedal that you can position wherever you want, this is brilliant.

The downside of the Hydra 4X is it is missing 1 loop for my ‘ideal’ use case (i d use it to set up a loop in my amp effect loop). And there is no online editor to make presets. However making presets on the unit directly of via CC commands is very easy, its just that a very visual interface like that of the ML10X is always welcome.

–> So , Morningstar people, are you planning to make such upgrade to your switcher line ? Especially when making parallel paths, i feel it s necessary to introduce volume control in the switcher itself to balance the volume of these paths, because many of us still use a lot of non-MIDI pedals. I get that for people using only midi pedals, this is not necessary.

This would be awesome if this can be expression controlled, too!

There was a company called Sound Sculpture that had a product called Switchblade. It was a true matrix mixer. The ML10x is a matrix router, but there are no parallel summing features EXCEPT for the final output, which can sum two parallel chains. All other nodes combine signals by averaging.

Sound Sculpture is gone after the owner passed. It would be incredible if Morningstar could do an ML10X Pro type thing that had matrix mixing with midi controllable levels. I’d be first in line, as I missed out on Switchblade, and they’re hard to find now at reasonable pricing.

with the Hydra 4X it is possible.

Yes we definitely want to start looking into that
