Any plans for a ML20X?

Hey Morningstar team !
I know that could sound outrageously impossible, but I was just curious if a ML20X (with 10 stereo (20 mono) loops would be manageable to design ?
I know a lot of gearheads like me here that would really love this, I already have a ML10X, super happy with it, but I’d love to extend my board with more stereo pedals and I can’t take of enough pedals to save enough stereo loops on my ML10X. Could you maybe make a ML20X or it’s a technology that have limits and the max amount of loops is 10 ?

Have a nice day !

Thanks, glad you like the ML10X!

There isn’t a cost-effective matrix chip that we can use to do 20 loops. The cost just rises exponentially with increasing number of IOs. We could use the existing matrix chip, but we will need to use 4 of them to do 20 loops (instead of 1 for 10 loops). The matrix chip actually makes up a good portion of the cost, and I’m uncertain whether the market for 20 loops is large enough.

I won’t say we’ll never do this, but likely not for now.

How about just using two ML10Xs, and not putting MIDI-controllable pedals in the loops at all unless really necessary?

I use two ML10’s and it works well. I’m able to change the sequence of loops within each ML10. A few small drawback that I can’t change the sequence of any and all loops, but it works great just the same.
