Actually when I move any of the 4 exp pedals of my MC8s, the controller displays the corresponding long name of the 1,2,3 or 4 special exp presets.
But I am using many many ‘Select Expression’ instructions to associate different actions to each pedal depending the instant of the playing, so unfortunately what is displayed when I press any of them is not very instructive to what is associated with.
On each of my two MC8s, I use one dedicated bank where I can select different exp configurations, each preset reaffect the 4 exp pedals actions to act simply on volume for one instrument, or to group instruments or to act on binding, paning, modulation, etc. for some instruments.
And unfortunately the actual fixed display can’t inform on which setting has been selected.
The Select Epxression feature is great but when really used, it is very difficult to exploit its real potential due to the poor display when acting on pedals. I frequently don’t remember the last exp setting I selected and the display is of no help.
So I propose that we can add a LABEL from the ‘Select Exp’ message, this label would be used each time we act on the pedal. If label is left empty (default value), the default Exp preset long name will be used.
So the new Select Exp message could include one more parameter :
Select Exp pedal Number, List of expressions amongst 16, LABEL_TO_DISPLAY
