ACS1 Stereo Tremolo with Waveform Generator

Hello All,

I’ve been on the hunt for a stereo tremolo pedal with MIDI for sometime now. Well, I seem to have found a suitable solution with my pre-existing setup. Running two waveform generators on my MC-8 allows me to ramp volume and L+R independently which allows me to get true stereo tremolo. Here are some images of my settings to accomplish this.

Waveform Generator 1 is a Sine wave set for volume (However different wave forms will produce different results, so try them all out)
Waveform Generator 2 is a Square wave set to switch L+R back and forth

Second press to disable the generators and reset the ACS1 to my desired volume. (This part took some trial and error to get it to reset to my preset volume but 3 o’clock is about 107 CC Value)

From my testing the best stereo results come from volume division being straight (1/4, 1/8, 1/16 notes) and L+R set to triplets but like I said try it out.

Overall fairly rudimentary but I must admit, I achieved the tonal bliss I’ve been craving. Let me know how it works out for you if you try it.

Fascinating and very creative! I’ll have to give it a shot myself. In the meantime, check out the Swindler Effects Red Mountain tremolo. Stereo, MIDI, and sounds great!

When I heard that there were waveform generators my mind went straight to trying to figure out how to have two eq’s alternating from high pass to low pass. This is the basis for Fender’s awsome sounding harmonic tremolo in the Brown faceplate era. Those tremolos gave up chewy, almost Uni-vibe like goodness. I bet it would work with a Source Audio EQ-2.

Does anyone know how to set this up with a Strymon Iridium? I tried using waveform generator to control the Level control, used the same settings as above but without the L/R (I don’t think that’s available on Iridium, would love if it was!?), set Engine 1 as a sine wave, min CC value 0 max cc value 127, but … nothing. In the MIDI monitor shows no MIDI messages being sent either. Any suggestions would be welcome, thanks!

Gregmcn,

Sorry for the long overdue response, haven’t been on in a while.

Hopefully you have gotten this working in the meantime but if not, be sure to have a tap tempo input or else the waveform generator won’t know what to send. That was an issue I previously had and failed to add to the original post.
