Fairly certain you should be able to do this unless I’m misunderstanding what you’re describing.
Only thing I can think of is that maybe you have toggle groups set on each preset? Can you share a screenshot of the way you have it set up? What device are you trying to control as well?
Yes it would be the same. However you could set up switch A as a toggle and switch B as momentary. And disengage both on release of switch B. Or just set switch A to mute on press and B to unmute both tracks on release. Whatever fits your needs
There’s a slight chance you may be able to do this in “looper mode” but I haven’t tried this before so I don’t know for sure.
As I understand it the biggest reason you can’t do this is because the Morningstar gear also uses secondary presets by tapping multiple switches at the same time. So the coding is looking for that second press within a small amount of time to see if it’s actually engaging the secondary function or just a single press. So in your example the unit sees pressing both A+B as a completely different single preset. On most units “bank down”
Since pressing both switches at the EXACT same time is almost impossible the unit has a small amount of time that it’s looking for the second switch to catch this. Naturally, this creates a small amount of latency when stepping on a switch. James added 2 things to work around this issue.
Switch Sensitivity setting - under the controller settings tab there’s a switch sensitivity setting. You can use this to shorten or lengthen the time it takes to look for the second footswitch press. The shorter it is the harder it is for the pedal to register a dual engagement. Longer the easier.
looper mode - when doing live looping you obviously want the smallest amount of latency possible to ensure your loops stay on track. So this mode completely removes the ability to hit multiple switches at the same time to engage another preset. It completely removes it so that all button presses are real time because it doesn’t have to look for the second press.
Sensitivity setting is not going to be helpful for you. However looper mode MAY be helpful. It’s worth a shot. Since it’s disabling the secondary function it might be able to register the two footswitch presses separately. But I don’t know this for sure. Give it a shot and see if that works.
Thanks for taking the time to write that! And to everyone for the responses.
I did try the looper mode and switch sensitivity unsuccessfully but will try again.
I don’t actually need to engage both buttons at exactly the same time, just press and hold one then the other. It doesn’t even have to be A+B, A+D would work just as well for my purpose.
The issue seems to be that other than for the ability to bank up/down, if one switch is pressed the MC6 seems to ignore a second switch being pressed.
I was also hoping to use switch pedals attached to the cv inputs and giving them to my band mates to trigger stuff, but if only one will work at a time I don’t see this being an option.
